The most ancient known Carnival was the festival of Osiris in
Egypt, which had it's origins in rites tied to the coming of
Spring. The Grand Krewe of Osiris was founded in Memphis in
1934. The Krewe colors are bright red and white, and its symbol
is the Great Eye of Osiris. |
The
Grand Krewe of RaMet works incredibly hard on their annual charity
Golf Outing, which benefits their children's charity. RaMet
has a storied history with Carnival since 1938.

The
Grand Krewe of Sphinx was established in 1935. Sphinx members

The
original Mystic Memphi was founded in 1872 and sponsored the
original Memphis Mardi Gras celebrations of the 1800's. Throughout
the city's history, Memphi has proudly supported Carnival and
the betterment of the community.

The
Grand Krewe of Phoenix is one of the newer Carnival Krewes.
The Krewe holds their annual Karaoke Party as fundraiser for
their charity. The event is quickly becoming a "must"
for all Carnival members regardless of the quality of their
voice. |
The
Singles Krewe in one of Carnival's most active group. Between
bridge and supper clubs, theater and travel groups, golf, tennis,
and almost any social activity possible, Ennead's members have
somehow found time to set fund raising records yearly in support
of the Children's Charity Initiative.

In
Egyptian mythology AANI was the god of mankind. The Krewe's
Queen is known as Hathor, goddess of love and myrth; and King
Thoth is known as the god of wisdom and magic.

In
only their third year as a Grand Krewe, Ptolemy has made an
early impact on Carnival Memphis and the community. Krewe members
are as diverse as our community, and have involved themselves
in the frivolity, festiveness, and charitable aspects of Carnival.
